TASK:
- Create two large scale show models of Billnäs
- Design and realise the conference table which will contain one of these models.
In 2009 our customer acquired the old Billnäs Iron works area including all the properties on top of it.
The plan was to create an event and conference center which would benefit from the amazing surrounding and the fascinating athmosphere of this old iron works and its history.
The customers aim was high and so he needed impressive show models to convince the critics of his project and his ideas.
The first model was still out of Kappa boards and supported the negotiation process with officials.
The next two models he ordered were supposed to be high end show models.
I generated the landscape topography out of high resolution 3d landscape laser measurements which were provided by the National Land Survey Finland. The house measurements I measured with the help of a Leica laser measuring tool (in two days at constant -20 Celsius)
The size of the models is 3m x 1.4 m, the scale is 1:333.
The production of the first model took approx. 1000 hours.
The conference table was produced at Helsingin Puutyö in a quality which you do not find a second time in Finland.
The conference table is 7,5 meter long, 3 meter wide and offers space for 24 seats. It is painted in high gloss white.
